Players and coaches will work together to support Be The Match®.  Be The Match helps patients receive the marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant they need.  Thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases depend on Be The Match Registry® to find an unrelated donor and a second chance at life.  Seventy percent of patients do not have a donor match in their family.

Antonio is a local Madison boy who received a bone marrow transplant because of Be The Match. Click Here to read his story.

The registry is the largest and most diverse in the world and is operated by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP).  Since 1987, the NMDP has facilitated more than 43,000 transplants.  Be The Match Foundation® supports the NMDP and raises funds to grow the registry.  Donations gained through Soccer Marrowthons will directly fund the process of adding donors to the registry, increasing the chances that more patients find their match.  For more information, visit BeTheMatchFoundation.org or call 1 (800) 507-5427.

How can you be involved?

1) You can create a team through the above website and recruit 8-12 players to play a 50-minute indoor match between 9-8 on October 9.  There is no cost to enter a team.  Each player is expected to raise at least $50 for Be The Match.  If you don't have a team but would like to play and raise funds, contact Staci Rieder at 279-2064.

2) You can come to Keva during the event to get your cheek swabbed to be added to the registry if you are 18 or older.

3) You can donate to this terrific event and spread the word to others to do the same.  Use the online link above or come to Keva during the Marrowthon to make a donation or bid on the silent auction.
